Contact List

Contact list

A Contact List is a custom group of Contacts that you create for targeted broadcasts or campaigns. Similar to a mailing list, it helps you organize recipients for WhatsApp messaging campaigns. By grouping Contacts into lists, you can:

  • Run focused broadcasts for promotions, updates, or announcements

  • Ensure messages reach only the intended audience

  • Reuse lists across multiple campaigns

How to Create a Contact List

  • Go to the Contact Lists section under the Broadcast tab.

  • Click + New Contact List.

  • Enter a Name for the list.

  • Set the Status of the list:

    • Active: Ready for broadcast.

    • Inactive: Paused, not available for sending.

  • Assign an Owner (default is the user creating the list).

  • Click on Save

  • Select Contacts to add (manually or via file import).

  • In manual addition search the existing contact names and add to the contact list.

  • In case of import, add the file from which the contacts have to be imported to the contact list.

You can import Contacts into a list using a spreadsheet file (CSV or Excel).

What Happens During Import:

  • New Contacts are added automatically.

  • Duplicate Contacts already in the list are ignored.

  • Inactive Contacts (already in the list) will prompt you to reactivate them.

  • If the phone number doesn’t exist in your system, a new Contact will be created and linked to the list.

If the Contact is not already linked to the right channel (e.g., WhatsApp), a new chat will be created automatically in the background.

Contact Statuses in a List

Each Contact in a list has additional info tracked:

Contact Limits

  • Each Contact List can hold up to 1,000 contacts.

  • This cap ensures quality engagement and system performance, since Convonite is designed for high-value follow-up messaging rather than bulk retail broadcasting.

  • The limit can be extended in the future if required.
