Overview
Before you can dive into the world of automated workflows and high-engagement messaging, there are a few foundational "must-haves." Think of these as your entry ticket to the WhatsApp Business Platform. Meeting these requirements ensures a smooth onboarding process and protects your account from being flagged or restricted by Meta.
1. A Dedicated Phone Number
Your phone number is your identity on WhatsApp. However, the Platform (API) has stricter rules than the personal app.
Verification Ready: The number must be able to receive an SMS or Voice Call for the initial One-Time Password (OTP) verification.
Clean History: Avoid numbers that have been previously banned or flagged for spam, as this will result in an immediate rejection.
Since WhatsApp is owned by Meta, your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) lives inside the Meta Business Manager.
Admin Access: You (or your tech provider) must have "Admin" level access to the Business Manager to create the WABA.
Business Verification: While you can start messaging immediately in a "Limited" tier, full scalability and the coveted Green Tick require you to complete the Business Verification process (submitting legal documents like tax IDs or business licenses).
3. Compliance with Commerce & Business Policies
WhatsApp is protective of its user experience. Your business model must align with Meta’s Prohibited Categories.

Note: Even if your business is legal in your country, it must still pass Meta’s global Commerce Policy to use the API.
4. A Functional Business Website
Meta’s automated systems and manual reviewers will visit your website to "vouch" for your business.
Professionalism: A "Coming Soon" page or a broken link will lead to a rejected application.
Consistency: The business name and branding on your website should match your Display Name on WhatsApp.
Security: Ensure your site uses https:// (SSL certificate).
5. Display Name Guidelines
Your Display Name is what customers see before they even save your contact. Meta is quite picky about this:
No All-Caps: "CONVONITE" is a no-go; "Convonite" is perfect.
Relevancy: The name must have a clear relationship with your business (e.g., you can't be "Best Pizza" if your legal business name is "Global Tech Solutions" without a clear "Doing Business As" link).
No Extra Text: Don’t add slogans or symbols (e.g., "Convonite - Best Chatbots!"). Keep it to the brand name only.
